Bella Smith
all things magic making, Co-owner and OperatorBella, Aunt Hazel’s great great niece is a dedicated teacher of the arts and is always excited to teach her community. She is an alumni of Baltimore School for the Arts, and later received degrees in Art Conservation, Art History, and Studio Arts while studying abroad in Italy. You can find her teaching many of our crochet, sewing, and painting classes. She loves to work with fiber arts and you may see her in one of her many amazing hats or making Buddy a new sweater. Since the start, she has been devoted to ensuring that the abundant materials the community has doesn’t end up in landfills.
Violet Smith
Co-owner and OperatorViolet, Aunt Hazel’s great great niece is passionate about providing the community access to art materials. You can find Violet teaching our kids classes and around Northeast Baltimore at our free community crafting pop-ups, she has a regular spot at the Overlea Farmers Market. She loves to make jewelry, hand sewing, collage, beading, etc. Violet studied in Germany and got her degree in Ethics and Politics, she learned from that experience that so much can be learned from your community members. She applies this in her approach to Aunt Hazel’s and is always excited to learn something new.
Buddy
security and Vibe checkBuddy is an integral member of the Aunt Hazel’s team. He is mainly responsible for the vibe checking customers and greeting everyone that comes in. His nicknames are buddy boy, Prince Armand, Buttercup, or whatever you think suits him. He loves going on long walks with his best pal Bella. While he is getting old at 14 years old, you couldn’t tell because he is very puppy like. We don’t know what breed he is so we call him an American Wiggle Dog. You can find Buddy sleeping on our lounge chairs or in Paco’s on his bed. He is always ready to model a necklace or cape. Check our Instagram to see Buddy’s photo shoots.
